Ghiaie Beach
Elba is known for its wonderful coasts, the crystal clear sea and the many beaches and coves, each unique and particular. The Ghiaie beach is no less than the others: it is located in Portoferraio near the port from where ferries leave for Piombino. Perhaps less famous than Fetovaia, the Ghiaie beach is certainly worth a visit for several reasons, first of all because it is perfect for diving and snorkeling lovers. The beach area is protected and therefore fishing is prohibited, and you can also see the “scoglietto”, a small islet that is also part of the Tuscan Archipelago where there is a lighthouse powered by photovoltaics.
The beach is also located in a position sheltered from the winds and consists of a backdrop of white pebbles (hence the name). Diving lovers know that the presence of an underwater plant allows the environment to offer a unique biodiversity, ideal for both small and large dives.
